The original historic Chalet Espen building has been retained and is very atmospheric. We still use the original dining area or “stübli”, which is full of character, with murals on the wall and low ceilings.
Chalet Espen was extended last century, and we have recently renovated and refurbished this part of the chalet to provide accommodation of a high standard. The newer part of the chalet now comprises 6 double bedrooms, each with modern en-suite facilities (powerful showers, fluffy towels, under-floor heating, and hairdryers), as well as a single bedroom. All of the double rooms have Swiss double beds (with down duvets and pillows), although single beds can be added to two of the rooms, making them suitable for use as twin rooms.
All of the bedrooms are light and bright, with wonderful mountain views and two of the rooms have a south-facing balcony.
Also in the newer part of the chalet is our spacious but extremely cosy lounge with log fire, for relaxing in at the end of the day. There is plenty of comfortable seating for guests and board games are available, as well as a selection of CDs and DVDs and an iPod docking station and speakers. The chalet also has satellite television and wireless internet.
Outside we have a large private garden with plenty of seating so that you can relax and enjoy the fresh mountain air and wonderful views. We have a large patio area and a separate fire-pit for evenings around the campfire. We also have car parking for guests.
Chalet Espen can be booked for the exclusive use of a single group or family, or individual rooms may be booked by guests travelling separately or in smaller groups. We normally accommodate up to 13 adult guests in the newer part of Chalet Espen, although there is a further double bedroom (with four bunk beds in it) and a single bedroom, together with a private bathroom available in the original part of the chalet, which are ideal for children or for larger groups of up to 18 wishing to travel together. We also have cots and children’s beds, which can be added to some of our rooms.
