Engelberg Ski and Board School has a great reputation and was recently awarded the prize for "Ski School of the year" in an international  competition which tested 164 ski resorts. This is no surprise as the feedback from our guests has been excellent.  

Many of Engelberg’s ski instructors speak English and tuition is offered for all ages and abilities.  Please see our “Children” page for full details of lessons available for children of 3 years and upwards.

There are several different options for adult skiers. Group lessons are available with Engelberg Ski School on weekdays between 10am and 1pm.  Groups are often small and the standard of tuition is high.  Engelberg Ski School prides itself on its use of modern ski teaching techniques, including video analysis.

For very good skiers above 10 years of age there are special Racing lessons available for improving your technique for slalom, giant-slalom and ski-cross.  These lessons are available on weekdays between 9am and 3pm and are thoroughly recommended for advanced skiers and budding ski racers.

Prime ski school is a relatively new arrival in Engelberg, but it has already developed an excellent reputation. Prime offer small group ski lessons for up to 8 people as well as lessons in Freestyle and Freeride for advanced skiers.

Finally, if you want VIP treatment and customised training, Engelberg Ski School offers private lessons for anything from one hour to a full day, for any number of people. Private lessons are also available through Prime ski school and Active Snow Team, both of which have English speaking instructors. There is no doubt that this is the best kind of tuition there is for one or two people, or small family groups, but it isn’t cheap! 

During the week Engelberg Snowboard School offers group lessons from 9.30am to 2.30pm, including video analysis and a race or jumping competition.  Private lessons are also available in the morning or afternoon, for 2 hours or longer.

Especially recommended are the Freeride and Freestyle courses for experienced snowboarders who want to learn or improve their jumps, railslides, pipes and powder runs.  These courses run on weekdays from 9.30am to 2.30pm.

Active Snow Team offers private snowboarding lessons with English speaking instructors, for up to 5 people, for 1 to 6 hours per day.

Telemark & Cross-country Skiing

Private Telemark skiing lessons can be arranged with Engelberg Ski and Board School and Prime ski school. Active Snow Team also offer private Cross-country skiing lessons for 1 to 5 people.
