The prices below are per person based on two people sharing a double or twin room for a week (Sunday to Sunday) and includes breakfast on 7 days as well as afternoon tea and a three course evening meal with cheese and wine on 6 days.  Please read our “Essential Information” page for more details.

Reductions For Children And Use Of Our Single Bedrooms

We charge £80 per week for infants under 2 years of age sharing your room. We offer a discount of 20% for any child under 10 years of age sharing a room with two adults and a discount of £50 for any child under 15 years of age occupying their own single room or sharing a double with other children.  We also offer a discount of £50 for any adult using one of our two single bedrooms. 

Sole Occupancy

A supplement of 60% will be charged for sole occupancy of a double bedroom.

Reductions for Groups

For groups of 13 or more (excluding infants) we offer a discount of 5% on the full adult price for each person. Groups of 10 or less (excluding infants) who wish to book the whole of Chalet Espen for the week of their visit will receive a 10% reduction on the full price for 14 adult guests.

Longer Stays

Please let us know if you would like to stay for longer than a week.  We may be able to offer you a discount for this, depending on the size of your group and the date of your visit.  Please contact us to discuss this.

Shorter Stays

We usually accommodate guests staying for a week in the period shown above.  However, we may be able to accommodate guests for a shorter stay (minimum 3 nights) on request. We are most likely to be able to accommodate such requests if they are made within 4 weeks of the date that you would like to visit.

Additional Services (Payable Locally)

Free wine is provided with your evening meal.  We also have a selection of aperitifs including beer and soft drinks, spirits and port, which can be purchased at other times. 

If you are arriving in Engelberg by train, we will pick you up from the station.  For those travelling in groups of 6 or more, we may be able to pre-arrange to pick you up at Lucerne station at a cost of 35 Swiss francs per person, each way. We may also be able to offer your group a transfer to and from the airport. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee these services as it depends on what time you are due to arrive - arrivals day is a very busy time in the chalet. 

If a sufficient number of guests are interested (usually a minimum of 6 adults) we may run a day trip to nearby Andermatt during your stay at a cost of CHF 70 per person. We have a limited number of Snow-shoes available which you can hire for 20 Swiss francs per day.

How To Book

Please choose the dates when you would like to visit and then contact us by email at info@chaletespen.com or telephone us on 0041 (0)41 637 2220 to check availability.  Alternatively, if you have a Skype telephone, you can call us for free on 0041 22 548 0219.  If you telephone us and we are not available, please just leave us a message and we will call you back as soon as we can.

Once we have confirmed availability and the price of your holiday, we will ask you to print, complete and return a Booking Form to us by fax or e-mail, together with a single payment of deposit for each member of your group of £100 per person. We will confirm your booking once we have received your signed Booking Form and payment of your group's deposit. The balance will be due 8 weeks before the date of your arrival. If you book within 8 weeks of the date of your proposed arrival, full payment will be required at the time of booking.

Please take the time to read the Booking Conditions section on the "Essential Information" page as you are taken to have read and accepted these when you return your Booking Form to us.
