IN THE RESORT
www.engelberg.ch - This is the website for the Engelberg Tourist Office. Click on the language options at the top left of the homepage to view the site in English. www.engelberg.ch
www.titlis.ch - Website for the Titlis mountain cable car company. The site can be viewed in English. This is a good site for checking the weather forecast and current snow conditions on Titlis as well as prices for lift passes and various activities on the mountain, including sledding. www.titlis.ch
www.brunni.ch - Website of the cable car company for the Brunni mountain. Unfortunately it is only in German and therefore the Titlis website is better for finding out general information about weather and snow conditions. www.brunni.ch
www.fuerenalp.ch - Website for the operators of the Fürenalp gondola. This site can be viewed in English and tells you all about the facilities at Fürenalp including a free toboggan run, restaurant with beautiful views and peaceful winter walking/snowshoeing routes off the beaten track. www.fuerenalp.ch
www.skischule-engelberg.ch - Website for the Engelberg Ski and Snowboard School which has an excellent reputation. The site can be viewed in English and will tell you all about prices and booking for private and group ski and snowboard lessons, as well as details of specialised lessons for racing, telemarking and cross- country skiing. www.skischule-engelberg.ch

www.boardlocal.ch - Website for a local snowboarding company which hires out equipment and runs snowboard lessons. The site is only in German which is reflective of the fact that relatively few of their instructors speak fluent English.

www.boardlocal.ch
www.bergfuehrer-speck.ch - Sämi Speck is a well known local mountain guide. He offers freeride ski and snowboard tours for 1 to 5 days in and around Engelberg during the winter and climbing tours in the summer. We thoroughly recommend his services as an off-piste ski guide. www.bergfuehrer-speck.ch

www.active-snow-team.ch - Active Snow Team run tailor-made private ski, snowboard and cross-country lessons for groups of up to five people for one to five hours. Instruction is available in English. They also offer a ski guiding service, specialising in off-piste.

www.active-snow-team.ch

www.outventure.ch - A local company with an excellent reputation which runs all kinds of winter and summer adventure activities. In the winter they offer ice climbing but their real specialism is in off-piste teaching and guiding. They organise ski and snowboarding tours for four or more people - just strap on your skins and go! Also extremely popular are their freeride excursions for four or more people, which can focus on teaching or just guiding you to the best spots for deep powder. Finally, if you would like to learn about the need to be safe when skiing off-piste without a guide, Outventure run an avalanche course - it isn't all teaching though, as they will seek out plenty of virgin snow for you.

www.outventure.ch
www.stoeckli.ch - The Stöckli shop is our recommendation for ski hire in Engelberg, offering the best combination of location, equipment and service. They have overnight ski lockers and you can pre-book your equipment through us. www.stoeckli.ch

www.titlis-sport.ch - Titlis Sport are based at the Titlis cable car station. Overnight lockers are available (for a small fee) and they have an online equipment reservation service.

www.titlis-sport.ch

www.sportingpark.ch - The website for Engelberg's sporting facilities including the swimming pool Sonnenberg as well as ice-skating, curling and day and night cross-country skiing around the resort. The site is in German only.

www.sportingpark.ch

www.iglu-dorf.com - The igloo hotel in Engelberg is built afresh each winter. They offer the unique experience of a romantic night spent in an igloo on the Titlis mountain. They can also arrange activities for you on the night of your stay, such as night air boarding! If you don't fancy an overnight stay, you can always pop in for a drink in their ice bar.

www.iglu-dorf.com

www.euroflugschule.ch - A company which runs paragliding lessons in the resort but also offers tandem paragliding flights from the Brunni mountain or from the top of Titlis. These flights are not cheap but are great fun and the views are truly spectacular. Their site is mainly in German but there is an English page which tells you all you need to know. www.euroflugschule.ch
TRAVEL
www.sbb.ch - A really execllent site for the Swiss railway service which can be viewed in English. Simply type in your departure station (one of the airports), your destination (Lucerne or Engelberg) and the date and rough time of travel and the site will give you all the options including journey times and the platform number for each train. Best of all, the trains will actually run to those times! When you type in your destination, the site will also give you other information including a five-day weather forecast and snow conditions. www.sbb.ch

www.swiss.com - In our experience the best value option for scheduled flights to Switzerland, particularly Zürich airport but also Basel and Geneva. See our Getting Here page for more information. It is easy to book your flight tickets online through this site.

www.holidayautos.co.uk - Another good, cheap option for car hire in Switzerland. The same comments apply here as for easycar. www.holidayautos.co.uk
www.viamichelin.com - A good site for planning your route for driving to Engelberg. You can search for the most direct or the quickest route. It is best to try a few options, but we can help here too. Bear in mind they sometimes underestimate journey times. www.viamichelin.com
www.theaa.com - An alternative to the viamichelin site for planning your route for driving to Engelberg. Their journey times are often more realistic. www.theaa.com
www.eurotunnel.com - No doubt about it, the quickest and easiest cross-channel route. Crossing time is just 35 minutes, saving you an hour on your journey over the shortest ferry crossing. Crossings are also very frequent, running every 30 minutes or so. All of this can come at a price. For cheaper fares, book as far in advance as you can. www.eurotunnel.com
www.poferries.com - P&O have about 25 sailings between Dover and Calais each day. If you wish to drive to Engelberg in one day, we would advise you to catch a ferry before 8am and preferably earlier. P&O are a good bet as they have frequent early morning crossings. www.poferries.com
www.norfolkline-ferries.co.uk - Operating ferry services between Dover and Dunkerque every two hours. Crossing time is very slightly longer than Dover to Calais. It is best to book in advance with them as last minute fares are often slightly higher. www.norfolkline-ferries.co.uk

www.seafrance.com - Operating between Dover and Calais. They often offer a good price including for bookings at the last minute. Note that their very early morning crossings are like sailing on the Marie Celeste - no onboard crew and shops/restaurants are usually shut.
